A Satellite Galaxy is a galaxy that orbits another galaxy. These galaxies are in the same relation to their Host galaxy as the Planets in our Solar System are to our Sun. They are usually less luminous than their host galaxy. Satellite galaxies are not the only Satellites of Galaxies. Globular Clusters can also orbit galaxies. Our own Milky Way has Satellite Galaxies, along with the Andromeda Galaxy, and many others.
