The designation "SWEEPS J175902.00-291323.7" is named after the project SWEEPS, formally called the Sagittarius Window Eclipsing Extrasolar Planet Search.

Planetary system[]

In 2006, a group of astronomers working on the SWEEPS program announced the discovery of a planet, named SWEEPS-10, in this system. It is an unconfirmed planet. At the time of its discovery, this planet had the shortest orbital period ever found, until the discovery of the pulsar planet PSR J1719-1438 b in 2011.
