PA-99-N2 is a red giant star, located 2,185,247 light years (670,000 parsecs) away from Earth in the Andromeda Galaxy. It was detected by a microlensing event in the direction of the Andromeda Galaxy in 1999.
It is estimated that this star would have a mass of 0.02 Solar masses to 3.6 Solar masses. The most likely value would be 0.5 Solar masses. Also detected in the lens is a possible giant extrasolar planet.
Planetary system[]
The star has an (unconfirmed) planet, PA-99-N2 b. The planet has a mass of around 6.34 Jupiter masses. If confirmed, it would be the first extrasolar planet found in another galaxy.
Planet | Mass | Semimajor axis | Orbital period (days) | Eccentricity | Inclination | Radius |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
