Nix is a small moon of Pluto. It was discovered on June 15, 2005 along with Hydra. Nix is the third moon of Pluto by distance, and orbits between Styx and Kerberos.
Nix is approximately 5,000 times dimmer than Pluto. It is 49.8 km (30.9 mi) at its longest dimension.

Nix was discovered by researchers of the Pluto Companion Search Team, using the Hubble Space Telescope.[1]
Name[]
The name "Nix" was approved by the International Astronomical Union and was announced on June 21, 2006. It was named after Nyx, the Greek goddess of night and the mother of Charon.
