Mayall's Object[]
Mayall's Object, also known as Arp 148, is a pair of interacting galaxies in the constellation of Ursa Major. It was discovered on March 13, 1940 by American astronomer Nicholas U. Mayall, hence the name "Mayall's Object". It was originally described as a peculiar Nebula shaped like a Question Mark. It was then described as a galaxy interacting with the intergalactic medium, before the final theory of a galaxy violently colliding with the galaxy, making a ring galaxy.
