Lalande 21185 b is a terrestrial super-earth orbiting the star Lalande 21185.
Discovery[]
It was discovered in 2017 using Radial Velocity.
Planetary Characteristics[]
Lalande 21185 b is a small, rocky super-earth with a very hot surface temperature and a mass of 2.69 Earth masses. It is almost certainly not habitable as it would need a Bond Albedo of ~0.9 to have temperatures of around 10 °C, and having the same greenhouse effect as Earth could make temperatures soar by 27 °C, making it likely too hot for life
Orbital Characteristics[]
Its orbital period is 12.946 days and its semimajor axis is 0.0789 AU. It has an orbital eccentricity of 0.12.
