Overview[]

The Great Red Spot is a storm on Jupiter that has lasted for multiple centuries. It has very high pressure, and is the largest anti cyclonic storm in the Solar System. It is 22 degrees south of Jupiter’s equator. It has been observed since at least 1878, and is still observed today. The Great Red Spot is three times the size of Earth, and lightning is produced in its clouds. The storm is colder than surrounding areas, so it is at a higher elevation than most clouds.
