The Fornax Dwarf Galaxy, a type of dwarf spheroidal galaxy
A dwarf spheroidal galaxy (dSph) is a very common type of galaxy that is very low-luminosity, has very little dust, and has an older star population. They are found in the Local Group as companions of the Milky Way, and to systems that are companions to the Andromeda Galaxy.
They are fairly similar to dwarf elliptical galaxies as both have little to no gas nor dust and have an old stellar population, though they are spheroidal in shape and have lower luminosity.

Dark matter[]
It has been suggested that these types of galaxies may be dominated by dark matter.
