A dwarf planet is a planetary-mass object that is neither a true planet nor a natural satellite. There are 5 dwarf planets. In order from the Sun, they are: Ceres, Pluto, Haumea, Makemake, and Eris. Only two have been visited by spacecraft. Ceres has been visited by Dawn and Pluto was visited by New Horizons. Although dwarf planets are not natural satellites, they can have natural satellites. The most famous, and largest, of them is Pluto’s moon Charon.
