The Copernican Revolution was a major change in astronomy, referring to the shift from the idea that the Earth was the center of the universe (the "Ptolemaic model", or geocentrism to the idea that the Sun was the center of the Solar System (the "Heliocentric model"). This revolution began with the publication of Nicolaus Copernicus's De revolutionibus orbium coelestium, and continued until the time of Isaac Newton.
