Cartwheel Galaxy[]
The Cartwheel Galaxy, also known as ESO 350-40, is a type S pec Ring Galaxy in the constellation of Sculptor. The galaxy was named the Cartwheel Galaxy because of its ring and the lines of gas and dust connecting the Outer Ring to the Inner Ring.
Structure[]
The galaxy is notable for its large, blue outer ring. But the galaxy actually has 2 rings, another one is around the core, which is a tan-like color. Lines of gas and dust protrude from the Outer Ring to the Inner Ring. The structure is complex and heavily disturbed.
Evolution[]
The galaxy used to be a normal Spiral Galaxy before another galaxy, named G3, collided with the Cartwheel Galaxy making the ring-like structure.
SN 2021adfx[]
SN 2021adfx is a type 2 supernova discovered in 2021 in the Cartwheel Galaxy.
